This tutorial demonstrates how to use the SPI protocol in your hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) tests, available starting with the 2023.1 software release of Typhoon HIL Control Center. Serial Peripheral Interface, or SPI, is a widely used protocol for synchronous serial communication, commonly found in embedded systems. This protocol makes use of the GPIO pins on the backplate of 4th generation HIL devices (HIL404 and HIL606) which you can connect to using a standard B2CF 16-pin female connector.
We hope that this new protocol will allow you to carry out even more on your HIL projects than before. We look forward to your feedback and to learning which other features you would like to see implemented next – let us know in the comments below and help bring your most wanted features to users around the globe!
