Integrated Model-Based Engineering
Integrated Model-Based Engineering (MBE) and Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) testing are seen as complementary approaches that improve the efficiency and effectiveness of system design, development, validation, and testing. MBE aids in creating accurate models representing system behavior, while HIL testing provides a means to validate those models using real hardware components in a controlled simulation environment.
Built for unparalleled emulation speed, fidelity, and stability, Typhoon HIL’s Model-Based System Engineering (MBSE) toolchain has a state-of-the-art processor design with ultra-low latency. Its unprecedented execution rates bring Controller Hardware-in-the-Loop (C-HIL) testing to new light. Complete software design and testing can be done in Typhoon HIL, from Model-in-the-Loop (MIL) to Software-in-the-Loop (SIL) and all the way to C-HIL.
Processor Design
Powering all Typhoon HIL simulators since 2009, the Typhoon HIL Field-Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) solver is a proven design trusted by both industry and academia. It has been continuously developed driven by extensive user feedback which is implemented through quarterly software releases.
Our FPGA solver is the key piece of technology that enabled high-fidelity real-time emulation of power electronics and small-scale power system circuits. It provides a solid basis for numerous applications ranging from model-based control development that empowers model-based engineering processes for test driven development and converter C-HIL testing, all the way to pre-commissioning and virtual system integration of modern, power electronics enabled, power systems.
Our technology empowers you to:
- Compile high-fidelity real-time models without domain-specific expertise and any 3rd party tools or toolchains
- Take your code to a platform of your choice with ANSI C with no low-level programming expertise required
- Validate embedded software (e.g., drives software, automotive ECUs software, wind turbine software, etc.) using simulation to shorten test time
- Emulate high-switching frequency devices with a 0.2 µs timestep
- Converts models into processor-readable model description with a single click of the button
- Take full advantage of the powerful system-on-chip powered

CarMaker Co-Simulation | Typhoon HIL Demo
This demo presents an approach for integrating high-fidelity EV powertrain models with detailed vehicle dynamics in automotive driving simulations, realized with a co-simulation between Typhoon HIL and IPG Automotive’s CarMaker. With this approach, Typhoon HIL can emulate electric converters, machines, and cell-level BMS systems with high fidelity in real time.
