Demos

Digital Substation HIL Testbed

See a substation setup with ten bays and a BESS controller, simulating different fault scenarios to evaluate protection device and controller responses. The hardware includes ABB’s SSC600 smart protection device, an industrial switch with GPS timing, an EPC Power BESS controller, and a HIL606 system.

BMS HIL Testbed

This demo features a 72-cell off-the-shelf Battery Management System (Orion 2 BMS) connected to a simulated battery stack, sensors, and a charger/load. It uses Smart Cell Emulators and standard interfaces to test the BMS in both normal operation—monitoring SOC, voltage, temperature, and current—and fault conditions like broken sensing lines, short circuit, reverse polarity or overheating.

TyphoonSim® and TI C2000 Toolbox

TyphoonSim is a high-fidelity simulation tool designed for real-time modeling and testing of power electronics and microgrid systems. It enables fast and accurate validation of control algorithms, grid integration strategies, and system dynamics without requiring dedicated HIL hardware. In addition, we will showcase a C-HIL setup with TI card interfacing for Rapid Control Prototyping (RCP), ideal for early stages of research and development.

MyDrive® HIL Compatible

MyDrive® HIL, is a high-fidelity, real-time simulation tool for testing drives, power converters, and complete systems. It reduces test time from days to hours, optimizes system performance, and eliminates the need for physical setups. Fully integrated with Typhoon HIL, it enables seamless and reliable simulations across various drive and motor configurations.

DriveLab ACS880 HIL Compatible

The ABB DriveLab ACS880 HIL Compatible is a next-generation simulation tool for seamless ABB variable speed drive (VSD) integration. With automated testing, it accelerates validation, improves troubleshooting, and ensures system reliability through real-time simulations—helping customers streamline development and reduce time to market.

BESS HIL Compatible

This BESS demo showcases the state-of-the-art hardware-in-the-loop test stand tailored for Battery Energy Storage Systems. It combines simulated grid, grid connection, battery, managed by physical industrial battery management system, and a PCS controller by physical industrial controller. This setup enables smooth integration between the pre-sales demo, design, implementation, commissioning, and support stages of a BESS plant project through based ensuring reliability and efficiency thorough the project lifecycle.

e-Drive HIL Testbed

The e-Drive HIL Testbed is a state-of-the-art hardware-in-the-loop solution designed for high-fidelity simulation, enhancing the development and testing of electric drive systems. With its precision and flexibility, the E-drive HIL Testbed accelerates innovation and ensures the reliability of modern e-mobility solutions.

On-Board Charger Testing Setup

We’re demonstrating a setup for an 11 kW onboard charger (OBC). It includes a PFC at the input and a high-voltage DCDC converter to charge a 400 V battery. The power stage is simulated on a HIL404, with control on a Texas Instruments Launchpad. This demo highlights the precise simulation and quick response of our system.

EV Smart Charging Testbed

The EV Smart Charging Testbed is a high-fidelity solution for testing EV and EVSE compliance with the Combined Charging System (CCS) standard. Powered by our EV Charging Twin Library, it simulates real-world EV and EVSE behavior to ensure seamless interoperability and performance. Ideal for R&D, compliance testing, and grid integration, our testbed provides the accuracy and flexibility needed to drive the future of smart charging.
