At Typhoon HIL, we are committed to providing our customers with exceptional products and services. As part of this commitment, we offer a comprehensive hardware warranty policy designed to ensure that our customers receive the best possible support and peace of mind when using our devices.

This document outlines Typhoon HIL’s Global Hardware Warranty Policy, detailing the minimum warranty service levels guaranteed worldwide. Regional policies may extend these baseline services but cannot reduce them.

Global Warranty Policy

Typhoon HIL HW Warranty

  • HIL devices: lifetime no-matter-what warranty.
  • All other hardware products: standard 2-year warranty.

HIL Devices Lifetime Warranty

  • Repair and handling costs covered for the device’s lifetime (Active and Classic product stages).
  • Device repaired or replaced regardless of the cause of the issue.
  • Shipping costs fully covered in the first 2 years.
  • Maximum repair time up to 30 calendar days, excluding shipping time.
  • No temporary replacement devices provided during the repair period.

Standard 2-year warranty for other hardware products

  • Full coverage of repair, handling, and shipping costs for the first 2 years.
  • Maximum repair time up to 30 calendar days, excluding shipping time.

FAQ

Our HIL devices are over-engineered, robust, and generally well-built. Consequentially, the majority of issues in the field are related to isolated manufacturing defects which should manifest during the mandatory warranty period of 2 years. This is evidenced by the relatively modest out-of-warranty repair costs over the past three years. Consequently, offering a lifetime warranty for HIL devices appears to be a sound strategic marketing decision.

Other hardware products are either built to different standards or have less physical protection, resulting in higher expected failure rates. For that reason, it is proposed to maintain a mandatory 2-year warranty in this case.

Why isn’t the policy tied to expert software packages (HIL Core Pro/Max))?

  • Enhances marketing impact by allowing us to claim a worldwide lifetime warranty.
  • Streamlines our operations by reducing edge cases.
  • It may appear insincere (hardware warranty is unrelated to software).

Why stop covering shipping costs after 2 years?

  • International shipping is pricey (600-1000 EUR typical NS round trip for HIL devices; HIL connects more), so let’s save some money.
  • It’s already successfully implemented in Europe and Asia.
  • Extension is possible in markets where there is both a strong local presence and clear commercial benefits.
