Alignment assistant

Description of how to enable, disable and use the alignment assistant

A selection of components in Schematic Editor can display guidelines in the form of horizontal or vertical dot-dashed lines when they are aligned with other components. Initially this feature is disabled, and can be enabled or disabled using the checkbox in the Schematic Editor status bar (Figure 1).
Figure 1. Alignment guidelines checkbox location
When component alignment is active, guidelines will be drawn when component areas are aligned horizontally or vertically (component areas can, in some cases, be larger than the component itself).
Figure 2. Component alignment with regard to the component area
Guidelines will only be shown between components that are selected and components that are not selected. Components that are aligned but are part of the same selection will not have guidelines drawn between them.
