Non-ideal

The Typhoon toolbox includes single and three phase contactors modeled as non-ideal switches which are shown in Table 1. Switches are modeled as a small inductance while conducting and small capacitance when open.

Single phase non-ideal contactor

  • Control source (Digital input or Model)
  • Sa: digital input address
  • Switching: switch opening condition (any current or zero current)
  • Execution rate: (execution rate in case model control is used)

Three phase non-ideal contactor

  • Control source (Digital input or Model)
  • Sa: digital input address
  • Switching: switch opening condition (any current or zero current)
  • Execution rate: (execution rate in case model control is used)

The parameter Resistance and the simulation step are defining the actual inductance and capacitance values according to the following equations:

L = T s R

C =   T s R

Where L and C are the calculated inductance and capacitance, Ts is the simulation step of electrical part of the model, R is the set resistance value.

Internal digital probes to the contactors

Digital output variable name Description
name_fb Digital feedback signal signalizes the contactor state

Digital Alias

If contactor is controlled by digital input, alias for digital input used by contactor will be created. Digital input alias will be available under Digital inputs list alongside with existing Digital input signals. Alias will be shown as Contactor_name.Switch_name, where Contactor_name is name of the contactor component and Switch_name is name of the controllable switch in the contactor.
